Grades: 9-12 Time: 1 hour Description This lesson allows students to learn how to generate a narrative using the second-hand accounts of Pinay Guerrilleras who fought in World War 2 in the Philippines. It is broken down into 5 pieces: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. This bundle includes a handout and a lesson plan. Engage Introduce the day’s topic by projecting this image and posing several questions. Explore Students explore the different experiences in the Philippines during Japanese occupation in the 1940’s. (This activity can be done individually or as a group.) Explain Students share their work. Elaborate The class discusses the different accounts they created. Evaluate Wrap up the lesson with a reflective activity. |
